汕頭職業(yè)技術(shù)學(xué)院是經(jīng)廣東省人民政府批準(zhǔn)，汕頭市人民政府主辦、主管，在原汕頭教育學(xué)院（含汕頭幼兒師范學(xué)校）、汕頭商業(yè)供銷學(xué)校、汕頭機(jī)電學(xué)校和汕頭市教師進(jìn)修學(xué)校等院校合并的基礎(chǔ)上設(shè)立的的公立全日制普通高等學(xué)校。

    學(xué)院由院本部、金園校區(qū)、新津校區(qū)和東墩校區(qū)四個(gè)校區(qū)組成，占地1252畝。其中院本部位于風(fēng)光秀麗的汕頭市濠江區(qū)東湖山麓，占地1056畝；金園校區(qū)位于汕頭市區(qū)金園路原汕頭教育學(xué)院和汕頭幼兒師范學(xué)校校址，占地56畝；新津校區(qū)位于汕頭市龍湖區(qū)外充公，占地115畝；東墩校區(qū)位于汕頭市黨校路8號(hào)，占地25畝。學(xué)院總建筑面積23.5萬(wàn)平方米，教學(xué)、實(shí)驗(yàn)實(shí)習(xí)設(shè)備總值約4841萬(wàn)元，圖書藏量93萬(wàn)冊(cè)。近三年畢業(yè)生就業(yè)率分別為92.66%、95.28%、97%。

    學(xué)院共開設(shè)57個(gè)大專專業(yè)（含方向）和10多個(gè)中職類專業(yè)。現(xiàn)有全日制大、中專在校生14119人；成人學(xué)歷大專生、聯(lián)合辦學(xué)的本科班學(xué)生1500多人。在編教職工725人，其中碩士以上學(xué)位者173人，具有副教授及以上專業(yè)技術(shù)職稱者133人，同時(shí)還聘請(qǐng)一批實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富的專家、高中級(jí)工程師為兼職教師。

學(xué)院設(shè)有計(jì)算機(jī)系、機(jī)電工程系、經(jīng)濟(jì)管理系、自然科學(xué)系、人文社科系、外語(yǔ)系、藝術(shù)體育系、學(xué)前教育系、中專部、思想政治理論課教學(xué)部、成人教育部、中小學(xué)教師繼續(xù)教育中心、現(xiàn)代教育技術(shù)中心、圖書館、技能實(shí)訓(xùn)中心等十五個(gè)教學(xué)、教輔部門。

    學(xué)院積極與國(guó)際先進(jìn)教育接軌，現(xiàn)已與英國(guó)胡佛漢頓大學(xué)和澳大利亞巴拉瑞特大學(xué)簽訂了合作辦學(xué)協(xié)議，三年?？粕厴I(yè)后可直接進(jìn)入這兩所大學(xué)攻讀本科（一年）獲得學(xué)士學(xué)位，并可繼續(xù)攻讀碩士、博士學(xué)位。同時(shí)，學(xué)院還組織開展大學(xué)生暑期赴美國(guó)帶薪實(shí)習(xí)、旅行活動(dòng)。此外，學(xué)院還與國(guó)內(nèi)數(shù)所著名本科院校達(dá)成合作辦學(xué)協(xié)議，以利于學(xué)院畢業(yè)生在國(guó)內(nèi)繼續(xù)深造。

創(chuàng)建以來(lái)，學(xué)院堅(jiān)持以服務(wù)為宗旨，以就業(yè)為導(dǎo)向，以提高崗位能力為重點(diǎn)，以高技術(shù)應(yīng)用型人才培養(yǎng)模式為基本特征，以推行全面職業(yè)素質(zhì)教育和創(chuàng)業(yè)教育為個(gè)性化特色，樹立“以人為本、以職業(yè)素質(zhì)培養(yǎng)為核心”的教育理念，按照“知行合一、德技雙馨”的校訓(xùn)要求，高起點(diǎn)，嚴(yán)要求，強(qiáng)技能，重實(shí)踐，辦學(xué)規(guī)模不斷擴(kuò)大，教學(xué)質(zhì)量逐步提高，辦學(xué)效益初步顯現(xiàn)。

目前，學(xué)院已基本形成文、理、工、藝術(shù)和師范教育等學(xué)科門類齊備，大中專普通教育與成人教育并存，學(xué)歷教育與職業(yè)培訓(xùn)共榮的辦學(xué)體系，學(xué)院的知名度不斷提高，發(fā)展規(guī)模和辦學(xué)質(zhì)量已位于省內(nèi)同類院校前列。

 

General Information About Shantou Polytechnic

Sponsored by Shantou Municipal Government, Shantou Polytechnic is a college ratified by Guangdong Provincial Government March 29, 2002, by merging Shantou College of Education (Shantou Preschool Normal School included), Shantou Commercial Supply and Marketing School, Shantou Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School and Shantou Teacher Training School.

  Shantou Polytechnic has four campuses: the Headquarter, which is located next to Donghu Mountain covering an area of 1252 mu(Chinese acre),Jinyuan Campus(56mu), located at the place where Shantou Education College and Shantou Preschool Normal School once lay, Xinjin Campus(115mu), at Waichonggong in Longhu district, and Dongdun Campus(25mu) at No.8 Party School Road. It has 235,000 square meters of building areas. The teaching and experimental facilities are worth about48,410,000yuan and the library has 930,000 books. In the past three years, the employment rate of graduated students reached a height of 92.66%, 95.28%, and 97%.

  It offers 57 majors(or orientations) for college students and more than 10 majors for secondary vocational students. Presently 14,119 full time students are studying at the college and there are more than 1,500 are grown-up students and undergraduate students studying in classes set by the college and its partners.  It currently has 725 staff, of whom 173 are holding master degree and doctoral degree and 133 are professors and associate professors. The college also employs experienced scholars and senior engineers as part-time teachers.

  The college has 15 departments and auxiliary units. They are: Department of Computer Sciences, Department of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering,Department of Economics and Management, Department of Natural Sciences, Department of Human & Social Sciences, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Arts & Physical Education, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching, Secondary Specialized School, Department of Adult Education, Center for Further Education, Modern Educational Technology Center, Library, and Skills Practicing Center.

  It focuses mainly on full time degree-oriented education and also keeps an eye on adult education, further education and career training. During these years it has been playing an active role in joint ventures with international universities. By now it has signed an agreement with University of Wolverhampton to cooperate some programmes. That means that graduates of Shantou Polytechnic can enter University of Wolverhampton to further study for another year to get a bachelor degreeand can go on wth their programmes for Master’s degrees. or even Ph.D. The college also formed partnership with some famous universities in China for joint programmes.

  With service as its ultimate purpose and career training as its core, the college focuses mainly on students’ career capabilities. It cultivates hi-tec applied talents and specializes in carrying out comprehensive professional quality education and entrepreneurship education. It caters to the development of the local economy and serves the local society. It has been progressing and renovating to improve its standard and core competitiveness. Based in the east part of the province, its goal is to become a well known model vocational college with unique features in Guangdong.
